Mob Mentality
i dont belong to a mob or a mafia and i for one don't find any logic in mob mentality nor do i appreciate in a mob following blindly behind someone who can raise their testoesterone level or say, their passion. In the following lines i draw a parrallel between a mob and a small business team.Do not be shocked.
Business or military leaders often find themselves in similar situations like a leader of a mob. Most teams are at times like a mob who stands as long as the leader stands and disperse as soon as the leader falls or flee the scene.
i would take an example of a small business team of 5-10 people. This team had been setting records, winning laurels and accolades for themselves and their team. Recently the leader of the team had suffered personal setbacks which are not entirely separated from his business, which came in the form of personal threats, extortion calls etc. The leader could not concentrate fully in his daily business drives, thus the performance of the whole team showed a down-curve. There is no logic why individual team member's performance should suffer just because their team leader faces some problems. However that was the fact.
Thus a leader whether he leads a platoon of soldiers, a business team of ten people or a mob of ten thousand should always remember that he has to be strong for the team to be strong, brave so that his team can be brave.....that is one lesson we learn from the above anecdote......
