Murder Most Foul

Two children, Muheni Martin and Hriini Hubert, were murdered in Senapati District, Manipur and the NSCN (IM) took the alleged culprits, Manikho Mao, Brown Tangkhul and Adlai into custody, not allowing the state govt or police to bring them to justice. By taking the law into it's own hands the Outfit has managed to hold the trouble-torned NE State and its machinery to ransom again much to the chagrin of the Govt at the Centre.

Despite the fact that CM Ibobi recently got a pat on the back from the High Command for the success of the Indian National Congress in the recent Assembly Elections, his govt's control over the state is never more shaky than before. The militant outfit has never lost opportunity to bring the Netas of Manipur into disrepute. The recent adoption of the Nagaland State Board of Secondary Education in some districts of Manipur was perhaps ample proof of the legitimate government's inability to assert itself even within it's own political frontiers.

Reputed Newspapers and electronic media had reported that the alleged murderers belong to the NSCN (IM). The writing on the wall was that the children were killed for reasons the NSCN (IM) is too embarrassed to make public. Motives could be numerous but Khelen Thokchom’s (The Telegraph's Manipur Correspondent) ‘Devil Worship’ angle would never come anywhere near one of those reasons.
